In concerts, music festivals, theater productions, outdoor events, and other stage entertainment scenarios, high current connectors and power distribution boxes form the backbone of the entire power supply system. Stage equipment varies widely in type and power requirements—from hundreds-of-watts LED fixtures to tens-of-thousands-watts line array sound systems—all requiring stable, safe, and efficient power delivery.

Stage power distribution boxes (also known as Power Distro Boxes or distribution cabinets) serve as the central hub for power distribution, converting three-phase high-current power from generator trucks or main grids into multiple output channels for various stage equipment. High current connectors are the critical interfaces connecting distribution boxes to end-use equipment, and their performance directly impacts the stability and safety of the entire power system.

Stage power environments present unique challenges: temporary setup, frequent plugging/unplugging, outdoor weather exposure, and constant vibration. Standard household connectors are entirely inadequate for these conditions. Professional high current connectors must possess high current carrying capacity, quick connect/disconnect, water and dust resistance, and vibration-proof anti-loosening capabilities.

Stage lighting systems are the primary consumers of power in any production, encompassing LED PAR cans, moving head lights, follow spots, LED screens, conventional ellipsoidal reflectors, and more—with power ratings ranging from tens of watts to several kilowatts.

(A) Low-to-Medium Power Lighting (LED PARs, Small Moving Heads)
These fixtures typically receive power via PowerCON connectors. PowerCON, Neutrik's professional locking power connector, features a twist-lock mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection caused by vibration. Common specifications include:

Higher-power lighting requires more robust connectors such as Rhino Plugs or CEE industrial plugs. Rhino Plug series supports:

(C) Multi-Circuit Centralized Power Distribution: Socapex Connectors
On large lighting trusses, the Socapex 19-pin multicore connector is the key to efficient power distribution. A single Socapex multicore cable can carry 6 independent circuits of power, with each circuit rated up to 20A. Technicians use breakout cables to convert the multicore cable into individual single-circuit connectors, powering each fixture independently on the truss. This approach dramatically reduces cable clutter and improves setup and teardown efficiency.

Smoke machines, snow machines, flame effects, as well as lift stages and revolving platforms, all require reliable power delivery.

These devices are characterized by high inrush currents and high instantaneous loads. 4-pin high current connectors (3-phase + ground) are commonly used for three-phase motors, typically rated 40A-80A. Vibration-proof anti-loosening is particularly critical—if a power connection disconnects during stage machinery movement, it can cause serious safety incidents.
