The Core Hub of Exhibition Power Systems

In trade shows, expositions, fairs, industry exhibitions, and other commercial display scenarios, high current connectors and booth power distribution boxes form the backbone of the entire temporary power supply system. Exhibition environments present unique challenges: temporary setup, high-frequency assembly/disassembly, dense booth layouts, and diverse power requirements—from hundreds-of-watts booth lighting to tens-of-thousands-watts heavy machinery demonstrations—all requiring stable, safe, and efficient power delivery.

Exhibition power distribution boxes (also known as booth boxes or floor distribution boxes) serve as the central hub for power distribution, converting three-phase high-current power from the venue's main grid into multiple output channels for various booth equipment. According to the Code for Electrical Design of Exhibition Buildings (JGJ333-2014), a booth box is a junction box equipped with power connectors and information interfaces for data, audio, and video. High current connectors are the critical interfaces connecting distribution boxes to exhibit equipment, and their performance directly impacts the stability and safety of the entire temporary power system.

Exhibition power environments present special challenges: temporary setups, frequent plugging/unplugging, damp floor conditions, and dense foot traffic. Standard household connectors are entirely inadequate. Professional high current connectors must possess high current carrying capacity, quick connect/disconnect, water and dust resistance (IP67 and above), and vibration-proof anti-loosening capabilities.

Standard Booths vs. Custom Exhibits

Exhibition booths fall into two main categories—standard booths and custom exhibits—with vastly different power requirements.

(A) Standard Booths (3m × 3m and Combined Configurations)
Standard booths are typically equipped with booth socket boxes providing basic power supply. Typical configurations include:
16A/32A CEE industrial sockets: Powering booth lighting and small display equipment
220V/16A single-phase sockets: For laptops, monitors, and other everyday equipment
Low-voltage information interfaces: Including voice, data, and fiber optic ports for network and communication needs
Standard booths use a trunk distribution method, with power supplied sequentially from the venue's regional distribution boxes along the booth cable trenches. This approach offers simple wiring and controlled costs, suitable for rapid deployment of large-scale standardized booths.

(B) Custom Exhibits and Large-Product Booths
Custom exhibits and large-product booths have significantly higher power demands than standard booths, often requiring 125A and above high-power industrial connector sockets to power large-scale product demonstrations. Typical configurations include:
125A/63A/32A multi-circuit high-current outputs: For high-power equipment such as large machinery, interactive installations, and LED video walls
400V three-phase power: For three-phase motors, large air conditioning units, and similar equipment
IP66/IP67 high protection ratings: Ensuring electrical safety in challenging booth environments with damp floors and heavy foot traffic

Custom exhibits typically use a radial distribution method, with power supplied directly from the exhibition distribution cabinet to each booth box, ensuring independent and stable power for high-power equipment.

Standard Booths vs. Custom Exhibits

Booth Lighting Equipment

Exhibition lighting systems include booth basic illumination, exhibit accent lighting, decorative ambient lighting, and LED strip lights, with power ratings ranging from tens of watts to several kilowatts.

(A) Low-to-Medium Power Lighting
LED spotlights, track lights, and LED strips in booths are typically powered via 16A CEE industrial sockets or PowerCON connectors. PowerCON connectors feature a twist-lock mechanism that effectively prevents accidental disconnection caused by foot traffic or equipment vibration.

(B) Large Booths and Outdoor Exhibition Lighting
For large custom exhibits or outdoor exhibitions with high-power lighting requirements, higher-specification connectors are needed:
DL28 series high current connectors: Supporting up to 50A current transmission, with a footprint nearly 50% smaller than traditional IEC60309 plugs—ideal for compact distribution box layouts
IP65/IP67 waterproof connectors: Essential for outdoor exhibitions, ensuring electrical safety in rainy or humid conditions

Booth Lighting Equipment

Audio and Multimedia Equipment

Modern exhibition audio systems, multimedia interactive installations, and AV playback equipment have stringent power quality requirements. Audio systems are particularly sensitive to power purity—power stability directly impacts sound clarity and presentation quality.

(A) Audio System Power Supply
Exhibition audio equipment primarily includes active speakers, power amplifiers, and mixing consoles. Professional audio systems typically employ:
PowerCON 20A/32A connectors: Providing high-current, locking, reliable power connections for amplifiers and active speakers
32A IEC connectors: Some high-end audio equipment uses higher-rated connectors for safe current transmission

(B) Multimedia Interactive Equipment
Touchscreen all-in-ones, projection equipment, interactive walls, and other multimedia devices typically draw both power and data signals through the booth box's integrated information interfaces. Some integrated booth boxes also feature water supply points and compressed air interfaces for special display requirements.

LED Displays and Video Equipment

Modern exhibition LED video walls, electronic display boards, and digital signage are major consumers of booth power. Large exhibition LED walls are assembled from numerous modules, requiring high-density power distribution.

LED screen power connectors must accommodate high-density installation and rapid assembly:

Large LED video walls are typically powered through booth distribution boxes with multiple output channels serving different screen zones. Real-time monitoring (digital voltmeters and ammeters) is critical for ensuring stable LED screen operation.
